Penny & Matt’s Excellent Engagement Picture Adventure

A few months ago, Penny came to me to photograph her engagement and wedding.  Naturally, I was excited- this couple wanted to have fun and wanted their pictures to reflect that.  Who would say “no,” right?! Well, about that… Apparently, I wasn’t their first photography contact.

They had attempted another photographer and were devastated by the results.  They had chosen a photographer and went to St. Louis’ City Museum for their engagement pictures. That place screams fun, so it was only fitting! Except, they didn’t have much fun at all.  Instead they were made to feel uncomfortable and generally left disheartened.  But, then I came along!

Our adventure, on the other hand, was a TON of fun. We introduced ourselves, chatted while we hung our coats, and then got down to business… which was to say we goofed off a lot.  Within minutes, they informed me that they already felt more comfortable and that they could be themselves. We started as strangers but quickly turned into friends as I got to know more about them. And I must say, after the engagement session, I am really excited for the wedding!

I’m not going to say I was nervous going into it, but I was nervous going into it. I really wanted to show them that they had had a bad experience and to take away the sour taste the other photographer had left behind. After all, photography is about a reflection of your subject and people should never be left to feel stifled. Be yourself- it’s most important. So without further ado, check out some of my favorite pictures from the day!
